My NoteVault

Cloud Space

Encrypted cloud storage for your vaults

Cloud Space is end-to-end encrypted cloud storage from the makers of My NoteVault. Your Android app or your browser encrypts each file before upload, with AES-256-GCM in 16 MiB parts. The keys never reach our servers, which keep ciphertext, sizes and dates only.

How Cloud Space keeps your files private

Files are encrypted on your device before upload, and the keys never reach our servers.

Encrypted before upload

Files are encrypted on your device, in the Android app or the browser, with AES-256-GCM in 16 MiB parts. File names and folders are encrypted too.

Your keys, not ours

No account: a Cloud Space is a Vault ID, an access file and a secret phrase. The access file is sealed with your phrase (PBKDF2-HMAC-SHA256, 100,000 rounds), and signing in is an Ed25519 signature made on your device, so no password is ever sent.

What the server keeps

Ciphertext, sizes and dates only. MyNoteVault can’t read your files, and nobody can recover a lost access file or a forgotten phrase: without both, your files can’t be decrypted by anyone.

On your phone

In My NoteVault, open your vault and choose the Cloud Space tab. Connect, upload vault files, preview them and import them back into a vault. The tab also has Devices and activity, and a way to link a browser by QR code.

On a computer

Open space.mynotevault.in in a modern browser and sign in with your access file and phrase, or by scanning a QR code with your phone. Upload, preview, download, and use folders, rename, move and sort. Files are decrypted whole in the browser; nothing streams.

Devices and history

One Android phone and one browser at a time, and you can remove either at any time. The activity history, covering sign-ins, uploads and device changes, can’t be edited or deleted.

How Cloud Space plans work

What happens when you buy, renew or change size, and when your year ends.

How Cloud Space plans work
Customer actionEffectBilling & storage behavior
Buying a planOne paymentOne payment covers one year of Cloud Space, with Premium in the app included for that year.
RenewingAdds a yearNothing renews automatically. Renewing adds another year of the same size to the end date. You renew in the same place you bought the Cloud Space.
Changing sizeFresh yearThe new size starts a fresh year today, and the unused days are credited at the new plan’s price.
End of the year30 daysUploads, renaming and moving stop, and the included Premium ends. For 30 days you can still open, download and delete your files; renew within them to keep everything. After that, the cloud files are permanently deleted. Files on your phone are not affected.

Cloud Space questions

Technical details on encryption, keys, and device access.

Can MyNoteVault or its servers see my files?

No. Files are encrypted on your device, in the Android app or the browser, before upload (AES-256-GCM, in 16 MiB parts). The keys never reach our servers. The server keeps ciphertext, sizes and dates only, and file names and folders are encrypted too.

What happens if I lose my access file or forget my secret phrase?

Nobody can recover them, MyNoteVault included. You need both the access file, named MyNoteVault-<Vault ID>.vaultkey, and your secret phrase to open your files, and without both they can’t be decrypted by anyone. Keep the access file in at least two safe places, and keep the phrase somewhere safe too, such as a password manager.

How do I connect the Android app to my Cloud Space?

Open My NoteVault on your Android phone, open your vault and go to the Cloud Space tab. Choose to connect, pick your access file and enter your secret phrase. You can then upload vault files, preview them and import them back into a vault.

Can I access my Cloud Space on a laptop or desktop computer?

Yes. Open space.mynotevault.in in a modern browser and sign in with your access file and secret phrase, or scan a QR code with your phone: choose Sign in with your phone on the site, then in the app open Devices and activity and choose Link a browser. You can upload, preview and download files, and use folders, rename, move and sort. There is nothing to install, and the site is in the app’s 13 languages.

How is this different from Google Drive or OneDrive?

Google Drive, OneDrive and Dropbox manage the encryption keys for your files by default (see Google, Microsoft and Dropbox), so their systems can open the files. That is how features such as Gemini in Drive and Copilot in OneDrive can work on them. In Cloud Space the keys never reach our servers, so we can’t read your files and have no such feature. The trade-off: no sharing links, no search inside files and no password reset. Read the full comparison, with sources.

What are the device limits?

One Android phone (the My NoteVault app) and one browser can be connected at a time, and you can remove either at any time. The activity history, which covers sign-ins, uploads and device changes, can’t be edited or deleted.

What happens when my year ends?

Uploads stop, and your files stay readable and downloadable for 30 days, so download anything you want to keep in that time. Nothing renews automatically. Renewing adds another year of the same size to the end date.

What can’t Cloud Space do?

It doesn’t stream files (they are decrypted whole in the browser), sync or upload in the background, back up whole folders by itself, make sharing links, search inside files or reset a forgotten phrase. There is no desktop or iOS app.
